Jamila
White is an experienced Internet strategist who possesses a unique
blend of web site development, business strategy, marketing communications
and training expertise. Her firm, Jamila White and Associates, Inc.,
has clients that span the private, public
and non-profit sectors, and include PBS, Georgetown University, the
Points of Light Foundation, the Women's Business Center and Maryland
Public Television. Jamila has produced several award-winning web sites,
including Maryland Public Television's Sense and Dollars a personal
finance site for kids and the Wonders
of Africa with Henry Louis Gates, Jr. web site and cutting-edge
digitally-enhanced broadcast, both companion pieces to the internationally
acclaimed six-part documentary. Among her accolades for her web productions
are a PBS "Eddie" Award, Yahoo! "Pick of the Day," Project Cool's "Site
of the Year," and recognition by The New York Times for excellence in
education.
Jamila is a regular instructor of E-Commerce and Internet Marketing
at Georgetown University's Networked Media Center and the Women's Business
Center, both in Washington, D.C. A summa cum laude graduate of
Howard University, from 1997-1999 Jamila owned and operated Brothers
& Sisters, an award-winning web-based retail mail order business.
Jamila has worked at COMSAT Corporation, a telecommunications and
satellite communications provider; and Fleishman-Hillard, Inc., an international
public relations agency, in a variety of marketing and public relations
positions. While at COMSAT, Jamila served as project manager and principal
architect of the corporation's 100-page web site, leading a team of
writers, graphic designers and programmers to launch the site in 1995.
